Hi everyone! Welcome to the world headquarters of Warn Industries here in Clackamas, Oregon. My name is Kia and I’m a product manager here. I would love to take you on a tour of our beautiful facility, so come on and just follow me.
Here I am in the lobby of Warn headquarters where you will find a historic CJ Willys that actually emphasizes what gave birth to our company 75 years ago.
Our History
In 1948, Arthur Warn founded the company by actually producing locking hubs that converted a surplus of WWII Jeeps into drivable on-road vehicles. Which is pretty ironic because our company specializes in everything off-road.
Fast-forward a few years later, in 1959 we actually released the first recreational electric winch called the Belleview winch. It is actually the predecessor of our much-loved 8274. Since then, we have paved the way for innovation and we continue to be the market leader for avid off-road racers, off-roading enthusiasts, first responders, tow truck drivers, and hard-working ranchers.
Warn Industries is the industry leader in self-recovery winches catered to both electric and hydraulic. We specialize in three different market segments here at Warn: The truck and Jeep market, the powersports market, and the industry market as well.
The Clackamas Facility
Here at Warn, we have a state-of-the-art facility that’s close to 200,000 sq./ft. We have many talented team members who work here across different departments including HR, finance, operations, manufacturing, engineering, testing, and quality.
We’re working day-in and day-out to make sure we can deliver great products to all you guys at home.
Innovation is in our DNA and it is something we pride ourselves in and it is something our team works towards the most.
Here, as you can see, we have our patent wall. This represents 75 years of patents of products that were released into the market. They include some of the greatest products you’re familiar with such as the ZEON, the Drill Winch, the hub locks; all the great items you use on your off-road adventures everyday.
Here I am at the engineering department here at Warn where we like to ideate, collaborate, and innovate on new products and launch them into the market. It is something that we focus on and we have a huge engineering team to help support that.
You call, and we answer. Here in the heart of Clackamas, Oregon we have a U.S.-based technical support team that’s here to take care of your everyday needs. This company was built on customer service and we stand behind the product.
Our Manufacturing Floor
We’re now inside the factory right on the manufacturing floor. Here we have many operators and machinists and assemblers working hard to build the products so that we can get them out the door and onto your vehicle.
I’m now here at material handling; this is where all the raw steel comes in Once it has come in, it gets processed and goes through our manufacturing flow, and ultimately ends up in your winches.
One of our core competencies here at Warn Industries is cutting steel and manufacturing gears. As you can see behind me, these are the machines and shapers that allow us to take raw steel, machine it down to its form, and then put it into the shaper to get the final result before it goes onto the next task.
As a part of our manufacturing process here in the fabricated area, one we bring in the raw pieces of sheet metal, we laser cut them, we cut them, we move along the process, and onto welding, grinding, and ultimately, the paint line.
I am now here at one of our many manufacturing lines. This one outputs the AXON and VRX but our other lines output the ZEON, the Series G2, the Series XL, and other mid-frame and large-frame winches.
Here I am standing inside the incredible test lab inside Warn Industries where we test the product to its limit. We have many different machines and procedures where we test the strength, durability, and environmental specifications of the product to ensure they meet the needs of your application.
Another thing that sets us apart is that we’re both ISO and IATF certified to ensure we can meet the stringent needs of our OEM partners.
Thank you for joining me on a tour of our facility here in Clackamas, Oregon; I hope you all had a wonderful time. Please follow our social channels and warn.com for the latest news and releases.
